The Executive Director is a key management position at the European Academy of Diplomacy (EAD) – the first non-governmental, non-for-profit diplomatic academy in Europe, with a mission of shaping, sharpening and inspiring a new generation of enlightened international leaders. Since its inception in 2004 and with over 10 000 graduates from more than 120 countries, EAD offers the highest quality tailor-made programs at graduate, post-graduate and executive levels. Among others the EAD runs its annual flagship program: the Academy of Young Diplomats and operates the Council of Europe Visegrad School of Political Studies
The Executive Director holds responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Foundation as well as shaping the future of the organization through vision, values, leadership, and strategy. Other key duties include fundraising and community outreach. The ED reports directly to the Council Foundation of the European Academy of Diplomacy and works in cooperation with the Board of its sister-organization: the Casimir Pulaski Foundation
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership:
• Work collaboratively with the Foundation Council & Board in formulating and implementing the strategic direction and goals of EAD while communicating regularly with the Board
• Oversee day-to-day operations including supervising the three core departments of EAD: Postgraduate Programs (Academy of Young Diplomats), Grant Programs (Visegrad School of Political Studies) and Executive Education (trainings)
• Hire and retain competent, qualified staff
• Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the Foundation
• Establish and adhere to organizational policies, best practices, and procedures
Fundrasing:
• Identify and build relationships with donor organizations that align with the foundation’s mission, as well as foster already existing relations
• Lead fundraising activities for EAD; oversee the preparation of funding and grant proposals in coordination with program heads and coordinators
• Assure fiscal management by operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position
Communication:
• Act as a liaison and ambassador, maintain and create new relationships on behalf of the Foundation
• Create and implement a marketing and communication plan to include strategies that will increase visibility and fundraising activities for the Foundation
• Serve as primary spokesperson and representative within the community, donors, and major event sponsors
• Maintain updated website information and use social media to promote our work
