You will join the 3 Data Scientists and 2 ML Engineers in our team, and 40+ Data Scientists & Machine Learning Engineers across the organization, to build and improve AI systems for Stepstone. This will include classical machine learning systems for forecasting, scoring and classification, data enrichment pipelines and building blocks to train, evaluate, and serve large language models

As a Domain Engineering Manager you will play a vital role in ensuring development teams have everything they need to deliver valuable outcomes. You will be responsible for building a thriving engineering culture and supporting teams in keeping their engineering approach in line with our tech strategy. To do this effectively you need to be an accomplished engineer
In close partnership with the Domain Product Manager, you will be jointly accountable for the Product Domain’s delivery of outcomes starting with the agreement on what those outcomes should be. Together you will make sure product teams understand business needs, opportunities and challenges. You will support and empower them to self-organize and proactively drive action in finding solutions to challenges they are facing
As Domain Engineering Manager you will be your product domains advocate, helping to ensure transparency by clear communication of activities, challenges and achieved results
Responsibilities
Ensures the domain is aligned to clear outcomes linked to OKRs and empowers the teams to achieve them
Promotes and develops a strong engineering culture in the domain
Full technical domain ownership: -cost, quality, service delivery and integrity of Domain systems
Line management and career development of Engineering Leads (2 - 6) within the Product Domain who will, in turn, manage technical team members within the product team (altogether 10 - 50 direct and indirect reports)
Leadership within the Product Domain to include the following
• Creation of an inspiring environment for the domain with a culture of open communication and high engagement
• Responsibility for the management of people, costs (budget) and major outcomes (predictability, effectiveness, quality and keeping stakeholders informed)
• Monitoring and resolving complex issues (by leading an incident task force, facilitating resolution of conflicts between teams)
• Helping the teams to constantly improve their capabilities and adhere to best practices
Ensures the teams are operating harmoniously and effectively
Ensures clear and efficient communication lines between the team and stakeholders are in place
Team health including team composition and staffing
