Summary of Duties
Under the general direction of the Counsellor (Political and Public Affairs), and with a high degree of judgment and independent action, the Advocacy Officer makes a significant contribution to strengthening relations between Canada, Poland and members of the Belarusian diaspora:
1. Identifying and proposing advocacy priorities and initiatives, including with media, in accordance with Canadian interests and priorities. Provision of strategic, high-level advocacy planning and engagement;
2. Developing, strengthening, and managing a network of stakeholders and contacts, in government, civil society, media, academia, politics, diplomatic missions, and other sectors. Leadership within the diplomatic community on priority issues (LGBTQ, Francophonie);
3. Proposing, planning and leading on advocacy events. Analysis and drafting of reports on advocacy topics and initiatives. Preparing strategic documents and written reports on results;
4. Oversight of Social Media engagement, coordination of all sections of the embassy on social media, Chair of the embassy’s social media committee;
5. Contributing to overall mission planning, priority setting and other program objectives including public affairs, economics, politics, cultural programming and communications as required;
6. Writing speeches for the Ambassador and Political Counsellor reflecting the embassy’s priorities and Canadian interests;
7. Supervision of one employee (Social Media and Event Support); and,
Designated Migration Officers assess and make final decisions on applications for permanent and temporary residency to Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). This role requires strong analytical skills to understand and interpret complex legislation, and ability to apply that knowledge in decision-making
The primary responsibilities of this role will include analyzing and evaluating information provided by applicants which may include: conducting investigations, interviewing, and making recommendations based on the results. You will also be responsible for documenting your decision-making process and ensuring decisions adhere to Canadian laws and legislation
In addition to your role as a decision-maker the successful candidate may be involved in migration and protection and diplomacy and responsible for engaging with stakeholders as a representative of the Government of Canada
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines. You must also have strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team

IRCC Locally Engaged Migration Officer Development Program (LEMO-DP):
The candidates will acquire skills and expertise through the IRCC Locally Engaged Migration Officer Development Program (LEMO-DP). During the program, candidates must complete all elements required for designation. Upon designation, candidates will be promoted to the LE-O2 level
Designation requirements include multiple examinations. Candidates are provided only one opportunity for each examination, and must achieve a passing grade to continue in the developmental program and maintain their employment
In order to graduate from the development program, candidates must maintain fully satisfactory performance at the ‘succeeded’ level and successfully complete all the LEMO-DP requirements
Under the direction of the Deputy Post Administrative Officer, the Common Services Officer (Property) will divide his (her) time between relocation responsibilities and the Management of Project responsibilities. The CSO will shift focus according to the yearly cycle to the team/priority that needs assistance
